Awards for AAL and Hamburg Süd

Some important industry events took place in Asia last week: Singapore-based AAL, a breakbulk and heavylift operator, and the German shipping line Hamburg Süd won accolades in different categories at this year’s Asian freight, logistics and supply chain awards.

AAL was named “Best shipping line – project cargo” for the second time in succession, and Hamburg Süd came top in the “Best shipping line Asia-Europe” category. Hamburg Süd competed with four finalists for the top slot.

AAL’s award was presented to the company’s deputy managing director, Wolfgang Harms. Amongst other activities last year, AAL agreed to a space sharing cooperation with Swire Shipping on a major liner trade linking Asia and Australia, and opened new offices in South Korea and Canada.

André Jobmann, Hamburg Süd’s general manager North China area, accepted the laurels on behalf of his company. He stated, “since entering the east–west trade lanes in late 2014, Hamburg Süd has swiftly built up an efficient organization for that business sector.”
